Top 10 Things I Love About Kids Being Themselves
If you have kids of any age, you are probably concerned that they won't sit still at a portrait studio. As a mother of three, and as a professional that has been photographing kids in a portrait studio for over 5 years, I can honestly tell you that, yes, it is true. Your kids won't sit still in a portrait studio, but it is okay, and I promise it won't ruin the photographs.
I love working with kids. Not just the sit and smile pretty kids, but the bounce off the walls, jump up and down, and twirl 'round and 'round kids too. We play. We laugh. We redirect (a lot), and I am as patient as I need to be in order to create images I know you will love.
I want you to describe your time in my portrait studio as joyful, heartwarming, and real. I'm not above bribing with candy (but only with your permission), and I will do whatever it takes to get those expressions you love. Don't be surprised if there are dinosaur roars, kitty cat meows, silly stories, and favorite music to set the stage for a serious dance party.
If your child needs a quieter setting, I have soft, snuggly pillows, a white noise machine, and a calm, patient voice. It's okay if your child is slow to warm and wants to hold your hand. Even if you want individual photographs of your child, we can work it out so that you can be right next to a reluctant child. For individual portraits, I will make sure I photograph your child without getting you in the frame.
The needs of your child will determine how your time in the portrait studio will look, and regardless of those needs, your kids don't have to sit still.
So here are the top 10 things I love about children being themselves...
