Want to see what happens when a huge-hearted, super cool 9 year old comes in for his very first professional portrait session?
We find a fabulous, one of a kind background, add the perfect lighting, and bring the scene to life. Then we do anything but sit still and smile.
This little guy (who is not so little anymore) came to Chelsea for a spring portrait session. Instead of staying in the studio, we packed up and headed out into the gorgeous Chelsea, Michigan countryside. I wanted something really special for his portrait debut.
It wasn't until after we picked the location that I learned that boxcars hold a significant place in this guy's heart. When everything comes together like this- the location, the lighting, the personal significance- I feel so supported in the work that I am doing.
I take comfort knowing that the art of photography runs deep, and the families that I work with feel this just as much as I do. For me, photography offers the gifts of healing, connection, joy, love, and completion. When these qualities resonate with others, my work feels successful on a completely different level. It's what I strive for as an artist.
To this one of a kind 9 year old-
May you always greet the world with love and kindness. May you know that you are never alone. Live and love with great abandon, and may you follow your dreams all the way up to the stars.
