MMB Imagery Brings Racecar Photographs to Chelsea
Bringing a racecar to Chelsea's Sounds and Sights Festival and photographing kids in the car was a fun-filled and completely inspiring adventure. All day long we helped kids get in and out of the car. To get in the car, you had to climb over the bars of the roll cage and into a seat that is so much smaller than you would imagine. It turns out, that was the easy part...
Once in the car, they would smile, laugh, put on the helmet, and pretend like they were driving. Some put on the seat belt, others reached for the peddles, and everyone once in awhile, someone looked for the keys so he or she could start it right up. (I'm certainly implicating my littlest blondie.)
Getting the kids out of the car was the challenge. I will admit, it was a little tricky to work back through the bars of the roll cage, but the truth of the situation is once the kids were in the car, they simply didn't want to get out.
Over 70 families stopped by and over 150 kids got in and out of the car that day. I loved the smiles and the joy in their eyes. I loved giving them an experience that made them feel ready to take on the world.
Many people in the community stopped by to say hello and offer support. Thank you. It means so much.
Before the event, I reached out to Saint Louis Center and asked if any of the residents would want to sit in the car or even stand next to it. I was thrilled that they brought several kids. When I asked, I didn't realize that it was going home weekend. I am so thankful that the kids that didn't get to go home for the weekend had something fun to do and were welcomed as part of the community.
A huge shout out to driver Fritz Wilke and engineer David Marchioni along with Capaldi Racing for all of your work to get the car to Chelsea. (Although the driver lives in Chelsea, the car does not.) Cassandra and Elise, you were the perfect assistants! And Sounds and Sights Festival, thank you for the opportunity to photograph these amazing smiles. What a perfect day in Chelsea, Michigan.
Racecars or not, MMB Imagery loves photographing children, families, and high school seniors. We have very few summer openings available, but we are currently booking fall sessions. If you are thinking about a photography session, check out summer favorites for a little sunshine filled inspiration.
