This
is the beginning
of anything
you
want.
We met at Gallup Park in downtown Ann Arbor for a Class of 2018 Senior Portrait Session. We all agreed that it was the perfect location to match Corbyn's personality and bring his photography session to life. On the day of his session, the weather was beautiful. The skies were blue and the sun was warm and bright. Then, despite what the weather forecast had to say, rain clouds started to roll in. To my dismay, we postponed the session.
But an hour before his session was originally scheduled, the sun started to break through the clouds and what had just been a rainy, gloomy afternoon was once again a beautiful end of summer day. (Thank you, Michigan.) Just like that, the session was back on.
We loved the variety that Gallup Park offers. Photographing under the bridge is the perfect place to play with light and shadow. The sunlight sparkles on the water even as the bridge shades the rocks and shoreline. Our session was a little early for fall colors, but Gallup Park is a beautiful spot for October senior and family portrait sessions.
The trees are beautiful and the trails and bridges add visual interest (and fun) to both the images and the session. It does require carrying lighting equipment thought out the park, but the extra time and effort it takes to set up off camera flash is certainly worth the end results.
I love the look of varsity jackets and the way they represent the senior year. Corbyn's photograph in his jacket under the bridge is one of my favorites. He looks comfortable, confident, and himself.
T-shirts are casual and fun. Many people choose a favorite t-shirt for an everyday look. When you mix in one outfit that is a little more formal like Corbyn's navy shirt, you end up with a great portfolio with a nice variety of styles, looks and expressions. I love the way this gallery of favorites came together.
My favorite memory from this session is Corbyn's great smile and his warm, genuine personality. Then there's the jokes... Why don't they play cards in the jungle? Because there are too many chee-tahs. Get it? It was a session favorite, and although it might not be the joke responsible for the very best smiles, it still makes me laugh when I think about it.
So Corbyn, I am wishing you the best in everything you do... wrestling, school, friendship, and all of the adventures life sends your way. It's your year for a whole new beginning. Make it anything you want it to be.
If you still need a senior portrait session, we would love to hear from you! We have 2 or maybe 3 spots available before yearbook submissions are due. It's the perfect time to mix fall colors into your senior year photographs. Reach out, and we will do our best to get you on the schedule.
Although the temperature is beautiful and we are still wearing shorts and flip flops, the leaves are starting to change colors and fall sessions are here. If you haven't already booked your fall session, check out our gallery of fall color favorites for a little motivation and inspiration.
