Teddi Takes Center Stage
It was a beautiful fall morning. The gentle breeze was winding its way through the branches, and the morning light was sparkling as it streamed through the dancing leaves. The same breeze was blowing through Teddi's hair. It added a special touch to her photographs that was both glamorous and completely natural at the same time.
How fitting for this high school senior who also happens to be an amazing performer.
The bridge, the trees, and even the river became Teddi's stage, and glowing in her own stunning light, Teddi's personality came to life.
There is so much that I love about Teddi. She is willing to stand up for others, brave enough fill an auditorium with her song, and strong enough to lead her team in field hockey. Whatever she is doing, Teddi does it in her own natural, light filled way.
A middle sister, she loves and respects both her older and younger sisters. On the day of her senior photography session, she laughed with her mom and played wholeheartedly. She was completely comfortable being herself.
I loved setting the scene and then letting Teddi be herself. The gentle breeze continued to guide the session until we suddenly decided that it would be fitting for her to play in the river instead of next to the river. Before we knew it, Teddi was in the water completely willing to play.
Teddi has so much going for her. She is a talented vocalist and athlete, but her talents never get in the way of lifting others up. She was the President of the Senior leadership team for Chelsea High School's show choir, Company C. For Teddi, it was an experience that gave her the opportunity to be herself- playful, committed, and willing to reach out to others and elevate them.
Her favorite memory from her senior year was at the Company C retreat when they had their first family group session. She got to meet everyone that would be in her family group for the season, and she said, "It was so wonderful to get to know the people in that group so much better."
That's Teddi. Where ever she goes, she doesn't simply make friends. She turns strangers into friends, and then turns friends into family.
Lighthearted and playful, before the end of summer, Teddi hopes to learn how to write with her left hand, ride a unicycle, and read one book a week.
Next fall she is taking some time off of school and traveling to Europe for a gap year. I love the image of Teddi shining light across the county and around the world. She will be back in Ann Arbor the following fall and attending school at the University of Michigan.
Dear Teddi, as you go off on your next adventure, may you always be yourself. You have so much to offer the world. May you always spread the light and be the light. You are amazing.
Much love,
Michelle Massey Barnes
