A PHOTO SHOOT FOR SHOES FOR KIDS
This community session was so incredibly fun. We had 11 kids come to the studio on a Monday afternoon to be our foot models! Our models came in to pose their pigs so we could create a collection of images that tell the story of Shoes For Kids, a local volunteer initiative dedicated to collecting new shoes and boots for school age children.
Shoes for Kids was started by local Chelsea, Michigan community member Tammy Bridges back in the 1998. Over the years, so many people and organizations have joined in to support the cause. Many community members have made donations and businesses and organizations have sponsored their own shoe and boot drives. In all, there have approximately 10,000 pairs of shoes donated to date, and that number keeps growing. I think that is incredibly amazing.
I felt so drawn to the passion and the commitment that Tammy Bridges has for this initiative. It was such a pleasure to help create marketing images that can be used to reach out to the community to help keep school aged feet warm and dry.
I was so touched by all of the community members that offered to take time out of their busy evening and bring their children to the studio for the foot photo shoot. I am delighted by the diversity in age, size, and skin tone that we were able to capture.
I was also touched by the number of community members that donated shoes and boots. People that I had not met left comments on my blog or sent email messages letting me know they had shoes to donate. The Find, a local Chelsea consignment store, got in touch with the studio to let us know they had a new pair of warm cozy, boots to donate.
Over 30 pairs of shoes and boots were collected and Shoes for Kids will help distribute all of them to children in Washtenaw and Jackson counties.
Keep an eye on Facebook for the Shoes for Kids video that will be coming out early next week. I can't wait to share more about this organization with you.
Wishing you a beautiful morning. May your day be filled with laughter, love, and the gift of community. Thank you for being part of my world.
Love and light,
Michelle Massey Barnes
