This is my 2020 reminder, to you or even to myself, that we still have the power to step into the magic of our own light. We still have the ability to leave an imprint of love, compassion, and hope on the world around us even when the conversations are tense, when the days are lonely, and when we are all wishing for a better way. It's more important than ever to rise up. We can be the light.

These portraits came out of a spark of an idea, a glimmer, a wonder. What would happen if I hung a roll of transparent mylar and lit it from behind? What feeling could I evoke? What could I bring to light that was otherwise right under the surface? 

It took 2 lights, an incredible friend, and safe place to explore. I submitted both of these to The Portraits Master's awards and accreditation program this past September where they were judged by world classes photographers and artists. They both received a bronze merit. I plan to earn my Associates level accreditation in the first quarter of 2021. That is an exciting goal for any year but an especially personally inspiring way to end 2020.
