The Song In Her Heart
Chelsea High School, Class of 2014
I met Allie over two years ago. From the moment I first met her, I feel in love with her warm inviting smile and the twinkle in her eyes. At first, I thought she was soft spoken and shy. It didn't take me long to change my mind. When she sang her Salsa inspired solo in her junior year in Co.C, it was obvious that her inner diva was alive and well. In fact, when I met up with Co.C at retreat this year, what was Allie doing? Sledding belly first down the biggest snow hill around. No holding back. The wind whistled through her hair as she threw her arms back behind her and raced to the bottom. I wasn't surprised when she brought that same boldness and vivacious to her senior portrait session.
There is so much that is amazing about Allie. She has the most fabulous collection of hats, and she is so comfortable wearing them. I love the way her hats bring out her warm and caring side while also highlighting just how unique and individual she is.
Photographing Allie was a delightful experience. Her eyes twinkled the whole time. She was full of ideas. Can I climb a tree? Can I stand in that field? My favorite moment was when, out of nowhere, raindrops started falling. I asked Allie if she wanted to duck into the car until the rain passed. Her answer? Oh, don't worry. If my hair gets wet, I'll just scrunch it and it will get even more curly!
There she was out in the open singing and dancing without a care in the world. Instead being worried about the rain, she considered it gift from nature. It takes a special kind of confidence to be that comfortable with who you are. I think both her confidence and the natural way she can be herself is going to take her to great places.
Aside from us playing in the rain and capturing her 'fabulousness' in her portraits, Allie was amazing during Co.C again this year. Not only were her performances wonderful, she served as the president of the Leadership Team. Over and over again, she brought her best self to Co.C, and she left a legacy that is all her own. It will be no small task for the next president to follow in her footsteps.
Allie, you are amazing. I know your light will continue to shine bright. Best of luck as you move on to a bigger stage. May there always be a song in your heart. You are beautiful.
Thank you for spending time with me.
